In the Fall of 2007, brothers, Steve and Joel Bond were discussing music stores in the area. Both agreed that a music store was needed in the Apex area. While they knew they wanted a convenient location, equally important, the store needed to be a friendly place where people could come in and check out guitars, drums, keyboards, etc., and not feel apprehensive, regardless of their experience. As a result, in August of 2008, LOCALS Guitars & Music became a reality.
Why the name LOCALS?
Because we aren’t the BIG BOX corporate chain music store. We live and run our business in the community like the traditional neighborhood Mom & Pop music stores everyone remembers.
LOCALS carries a large line of instruments including: electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, folk instruments, band instruments, percussion, and accessories. And of course, we stock amplifiers, guitar straps, cases, strings, picks, effects pedals, drum heads, drum sticks, mixers, cables, and much more. Well known brands such as Fender, Ibanez, Takamine, Seagull, Epiphone, VOX, Marshall, Korg, ESP, Schecter, TAMA, Gretsch, Sabian and too many more to list are available.
Lesson studios are also located within the store. The studios offer a safe and professional environment for students of all ages. We currently offer lessons in guitar, bass, piano, voice, and percussion. Plus there’s the added convenience of the store should the student need new equipment, accessories, music, or minor repairs. Parents are welcome to stay in the waiting area, or to return at the end of the lesson.
